The Butu (Buttawa) people of North East Nigeria are loved by God! Omega Centre for World Missions’ engagement with the Buttawas have been gradual and sustained. Despite the fact that they are predominantly Muslims and there is no known Christian among them, the strains of redemption are intertwined in their culture and values.
They have suffered a serious distortion to their identity. They were originally animist with a distinct culture and language, however, they were Islamized and their identity was suppressed and their culture and language are at the verge of extinction! Today there is no known Butu Christian as there is no Butu indigene in the three Churches among the Butu.
Our engagement with the Butu (Buttawa) people has not been without impact as they desire to redeem themselves from the subjugated identity bestowed on them by Islam and their conquerors. We know they have an identity in Christ and their place is secured before the throne.
Declare International, an Ethno Arts Missions Agency is one of the agencies we are working with to promote Godly values through their music, arts and culture. God is giving us access among the Buttwas. Pray for us. Pray for the partnership between Omega Centre for World Missions and Declare International.
Our engagement with the Butu people are multifaceted and wholistic. Aside working with them to redeem their language through Bible translation and language development, other means of engagement and
Interventions are:
– Disciple Making
– Medical Outreach

Please pray for the Butu people
